Our girl continues to get better every day. Last Thursday she had her remaining drains removed (day 9) and was praised by the doctors and...
“Sonja's Utter Success Story” will be my feeble attempt to keep everyone who cares for Sonja updated on her progress throughout her journey. It is very likely updates I post will contain dad jokes and/or poor humor. Mainly because humor is my primary coping mechanism and this website may prove to be an outlet for my therapy if nothing else.
For those of you who may not know. Sonja was diagnosed with breast cancer this past November. The affects are the same for anyone who receives this type of news. Like a mule kicked you right in the ol breadbasket. Sonja was scheduled for a double mastectomy in mid-January. Instead, she decided to get covid and pulled one over on all of us. Such the prankster. As they postponed her surgery and asked her to wait another two months to remove the mass. She leaned in and held us all together by going about as if there was nothing to worry over. Seems like the only one she couldn’t fool was our dog Koda, who still hasn’t left her side. Anyway, two months sure got here quick for taking so long. Now tomorrow is today, and the anxiety from what’s to come has worn her bluff a bit thin. A horse walks into a bar and orders a beer, the bartender says, “hey buddy, why the long face.” Co….ping mech……a……nism.
I’ll close by saying, Sonja is one of the toughest lady’s I’ve ever known and is ready to be on the healing side of this thang. I’ll try my best to keep you all updated on her progress and ask in the meantime that you continue to keep her in your prayers throughout her healing. Thanks, Chris.
